Homework- 12 by 12 grid

A1. We have to complete a 12 by12 grid in under 3 minutes. The 12x12 grid is when your rule up a grid that is 12 squares by 12 squares and you have to write the numbers 1 to 12 along top and on the side of the grid. The 12x12 grid is a test on your times tables because you write in all of your times tables. Its called a 12 by12 grid because there are 12 Columns in the grid and you have to write down all the answers for each times table, e.g you go along the top row first answering all the questions like 1x1 then 2x1 and you go along also answering questions like, 9x 5 5x 6 and so on until you reach 12x12. When you finished you have to rase your hand and yell stop. We had 5 minutes to complete it and a couple of weeks after we tried to try and finish it under 4 minutes some people finished it under 3 minutes straight away but as you can see I completed it in 3 minutes and 0 seconds. We did this grid every day of the week before we started our proper maths tasks. I took me at least 3 weeks to finally complete it.

I thought of this 12 by 12 grid a good activity for people that are not quite that good at times tables When I was doing this grid I found a few different good ways on how to do it fast and and make it right. I found that if you do your 1's timetables and then 2's and 3's and 9's because those are the ones that im really good.
