A rose by any other nam

"A rose by any other name" is a quote in a famous play, William Shakespeare's play the play is  called Juliet and Romeo the play was made in 1914 it is a romantic comedy. Juliet says it in play 2 act 2

a rose by any other name is in part of a dialogue the whole quote is called a rose by any other name as sweet as.
Juliet compares it to Romeo because he will be the same person if he wasn't a montague.

Whole quote: TIS but they name that is my enemy: thou art thyself thought not a montague. Whatt's Montague.is nor a hand, nor a foot, nor a arm, nor face, nor any other part belonging to the man, be some other name!  What's in a name? That witch we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet so Romeo called retain that her perfection which he ows without that tittle. Romeo doff thy names and for that name which is no part of thee take all myself

 KaylaDear Santa

Hi Santa This year for Christmas I don't really want that much for Christmas  I would just like a couple of big things this year. This year I would like a iphone5c because it would be good for texting family for emergency, having the time on you 24\7, if you need to search things up you can and the phone can also be good for playing music and games. So that would be nice having a new phone.

Another thing I would like is some more clothes and shoes or a voucher to some clothes shops like North beach or Nevada because I need some more clothes and I don't really have that much. Also I love vans and converse and I would love to own some more pairs of those kinds of shoes. And it would be really generous if they were some of my presents.

One other thing I would like for Christmas is some stuff in the kids room like posters, more pictures, more games, more cushions, more movies, and another couch because there's only a small amount of stuff down there and it would look cool if their were more things so the kids room would be attractive and it would be a lot more fun being down there as it is now.

Movie review: home alone

The main character is Kevin McAllister, Kevin is only 8 and he accidentally got left behind while his family went for a vacation in France for Christmas. He realises they've left him home by himself without them knowing , And then a couple of days later he finds some burglars Harry and Marv, they are planning to rob every house in Kevin's  neighbourhood. Then Kevin gets ready because he knows that they are coming so he has all these traps ready  for when they come so they can't rob his house and so he can protect it

When Kevin's mum realises  that she has left Kevin behind in Chicago she screams and tries her best to get back home to him! But she couldn't until the next day then she rings the police and tries to make them go to the house and see if any ones home but when they knock on the door Kevin is to scared to open it and thinks it the burglars Harry and Marv but it want it was the police. At the end of the night when the burglars finished tried robbing his house Marv had a burnt hand and Harry had a hole in his foot from standing on a nail. When Marv tried climbing through the window and then stomped his feet on the ground there were little pieces of Christmas decorations on the ground so that made marks in his feet.  he is a pretty smart a creative kid that thinks like a grown up to stop people robbing houses. A couple of days after  his family comes back on Christmas Day and hew as the most happiest kid on earth.

I recommend kids to watch it because it will be a good experience for them and learn how to handle some stuff if some tries to rob their house

The sunny day begun
People ran and ran
We started off with the fun run
With a hose at the end
We had morning tea
And started the activities
We earned points for rimu
And had a lot of fun
Lunch was straight after
We had it for a hour
And we ended the day
With a concert straight after
We went back to class
And got ready to go home
We sat on the steps
Waiting for the bell to go
It finished at 7
And we found out who came first
But unfourtanly rimu didn't.

Daily blog post- poem on the weekend

Winning, winning our game of netball.
Exiting, because we are off to semi finals next weekend.
Enjoyable, hanging with a couple of my mates.
Kicking back, when my friend came over.
Emotion, when Kaden fell off the playground in town.
Nearly lost my new vans that I got.
Dangerous, when a guy fell off the tree 5 metres high.

School is better than sports

For
Because you learn and you get a good education if you do well in school.
you make friends and you socialize.
Because if you don't go to school you won't know anything.

Againest
Some people love playing sports more than being at school
People don't like school and they just like playing sports all the time

Netball is better than basketball.

For
Because some people think its really fun and enjoyable because some people like shooting and defending.
if you work nice and hard you will be fit and healthy.

Against

Some people think netball is boring because you can't dribble the ball or you can't defend closer than 3 feet so they prefer basketball over netball.

Blog post- holdiays

In the first week of the holidays I was sick and I absolutely hated it! I pretty much was in bed or lying down on the couch watching tv most of the week. Then on saturday it was my cousins birthday she was turning 16 so we had her super 16 party at our house. The low light about that was I had to stay inside and watch tv because I was still not feeling 100%. On sunday we ending up tidying down stairs most of the day and then I went to the movies with a couple of mates and watched Despicable Me 2.
On the 2nd week I basically went to town and hung with my friends all week except sunday On wednesday my highlight was when I saw an unusual thing and it was a old lady pushing a pram with a big dog in it and said it was her baby when I asked. About 10 minutes after I saw Lisa and Monica with Monica's nana so Sammy (my friend) and I decided to run across the road and see them and I nearly got ran over by a red car but surprisingly I didn't get hit.

My main events this term were cross country, science fair, and our Rimu House camp. My highlight this term would be playing paintball at camp on the first week it was really enjoyable and gave me heaps of memories. I have improved on my maths but not so much my reading for my maths I got a 4B. But I would of got a higher score if I didn't have to rush the last 10 question. I don't really like reading thats why I still need to improve on it. One of my lowlights are not going in the last netball tournament because the one before that was my team came 1st.

Homework- 12 by 12 grid

A1. We have to complete a 12 by12 grid in under 3 minutes. The 12x12 grid is when your rule up a grid that is 12 squares by 12 squares and you have to write the numbers 1 to 12 along top and on the side of the grid. The 12x12 grid is a test on your times tables because you write in all of your times tables. Its called a 12 by12 grid because there are 12 Columns in the grid and you have to write down all the answers for each times table, e.g you go along the top row first answering all the questions like 1x1 then 2x1 and you go along also answering questions like, 9x 5 5x 6 and so on until you reach 12x12. When you finished you have to rase your hand and yell stop. We had 5 minutes to complete it and a couple of weeks after we tried to try and finish it under 4 minutes some people finished it under 3 minutes straight away but as you can see I completed it in 3 minutes and 0 seconds. We did this grid every day of the week before we started our proper maths tasks. I took me at least 3 weeks to finally complete it.

I thought of this 12 by 12 grid a good activity for people that are not quite that good at times tables When I was doing this grid I found a few different good ways on how to do it fast and and make it right. I found that if you do your 1's timetables and then 2's and 3's and 9's because those are the ones that im really good.

Homework- Participate in a winter tournament

P7.  For the past 8 weeks and the next 2 more weeks I have been playing saturday netball. I play GA in a D team but my team is coming first in the B grade now. We were coming 6th in the A grade but the head of netball said that netball teams can't skip more than 3 grades and we skipped 4 so we have to stay in the b grade. The other day at training my coach told our team that the coach for junior a's of Tauranga Girls Collage, and the coach for the under 19's and under 21's netball reps heard about our team and that  she was going to come down to watch us on Saturday so she knows whats coming in for next year. And we are on the front of the school's newsletter because Miss Hampton the sports lady heard that we do 10 hours of training a week in the holidays and 4 hours a week on the week days and then on Saturdays we have to go to our netball game a hour early so we can warm up.

My team has been a tournament this year and we came 1st out of about 10 teams. We had 6 games we won all of them. All of our scores were very far apart like our highest score was 63-5 and out lowest was 45-6. On our 4th game one of our team mates got elbowed in the mouth and then we had to stop the game because our coach was arguing with the team that we were versing and when we were about to leave the coach said that next time if we are winning by a lot we had to take it down a bit so they would get goals and then my team mate that got elbowed in the mouth her mum had a very big argument with the coach but unfortunately the referee didn't do anything about it so we had to go on like nothing never happened.

Science fair

This year Im doing to see if it helps people shoot with net, no net or paper around the hoop. And I just finished last night it took me about 2 hours to decorate it and stick everything on. When I finished all my tests I got my results. My hypothesis was right the net does help people shoot. And the no net was the lowest successful shots. The paper was really close to the net by 1 percent less.

A game that most people play is called Temple Run its mainly someone running along a brick bridge and you would have to swipe your finger across the screen to turn left or right and you would have to swipe down to go down and up to jump. You have to try avoid tree stumps and if you last a long time you will have to try avoid and jump over the gaps or if u fall down the gaps you will die. And if you swipe the screen 3 times its a cheat.

Free writing-

At my old school called Green park In year 6 I played netball on saturday morning , for 7's , and inter schools. For inter schools you would have to trial but I forgot my shoes that day so I couldn't trial and when everyone else trailed all my saturday netball team got in.  The coach for that team was Mrs Oakley. When she found out that the magics (that was my team) all got in except me because I never trialled. But surprisingly I got in without trialling so I was really happy!.

My weekend

On saturday I played a very hard game of netball the Katikati 8A unfortunately we lose but I was quite proud of myself because we are the D grade and we now are placed in the A grade. After my netball game I went to hang with some mates called Brody and Paris for about 2 hours down in frasor cove. After that Brody came over for a little while to watch a movie then after the movie my Mum, sister and I dropped him off around 7.30 pm and then our mums were talking for a long time! His sister Christa had a friend over at the time to called Anthony when we were all sitting down on the driveway I couldn't really see and I accidentally poked Brody In the eye.

Blog post-Someone different

My 6 year old sister Rhya-Jay is very different because she is not like me she is more like her dad. She is different because she acts like a boy sometimes, she's weird! , but has a good sense of humour. Sometimes she can be annoying but thats how life works she is a little chatterbox thats why she annoys me. She is always saying hi to my friends that she knows, like if she's in the car and one of my friends walk pass she would poke her head out the window and yell out hi and their name.

Homework S8

The scorching sun was burning me like a oven, I trudged along breaking everything under my feet. I could feel the fresh breeze wafting up my nose when suddenly I heard a rumble in the distance, Everything around me was grey and black. Leaves, trees, sticks, everything. I was walking along the colorful ground. The tall green trees were looking down on me as if I was an ant.

I started to turn around but a vine got under me and tripped me causing me to tumble down. I landed with a big thump my arm landed on a spiky plant Ouch I cried in pain. Black and red blood ran down my arm. I wiped the blood off but it kept pouring out.
I sighed as I got up and dusted myself off. I turned around and searched for another path.

I keeped on walking until I found shelter. A second later a dark forest  caught my little hazel eyes, everything around me was blurry, my heart was pounding as fast as it could, boom boom boom 100 beats a minute. I nearly fainted but then I saw a old rusty sign leading to the river.  At that point I saw an unusual man coming towards me, making me feel unsafe and shy. I asked him where I was, he did not reply I could see a badge on the right side of his body Spelt Michael, I thought to myself that must be his name.

My weekend

On Saturday I played my game of netball I felt nervous and excited because the netball team that we versed would of been one of our hardest games. They were called the Tauranga Intermediate School 8C my team is the Tauranga Intermediate school 8D after the game my coach told us our score and all my team mates were all surprised because we won 33-8 I was really happy when I found out that we won. When were at training we have a friendly game of netball and the other team always wins when we verse them. But when we verse each other in tournament or a proper game my team always wins.
That was the last grading game and now we are versing A grades.

I wonder

I wonder If the sun rotates?

I wonder why the ants come out when there is food left out?

I wonder if the moon rotates?

I wonder if there are over 1 million people that live in tauranga?

I wonder where scabs come from?

I wonder why we have so much bones in our bodies?

I wonder why If you can cry under water?

I wonder how long a person can stay under water for?

I wonder why if fish can get thirsty?

I wonder how blind people can see their dreams?

17th Avenue Cemetery

On Friday in the middle block room 42 went down to visit the 17th Avenue Cemetery to get data. We all got into pairs and we had to go around with a question that we thought of. My question was what is the most common mens and women's name? My partner and I went around with that question and we found that the most common mens name is:James and the most common women's name is:Mary.

the suitcase

On the 23rd of march in 2010 I went off for a long journey. The scorching sun was burning me like a oven, sweat was running down my face all day long. Freddy was walking down the hill to find water but suddenly I heard a rumble in the distance.

Heart rate

What is heart rate??? Heart rate is when your heart beats and you time it. It is measured to see if your heart is beating normal or badly.

When you exercise your breathe and your heart beats faster so it can pump more blood around your body to keep you moving

What is the normal heart rate for someone my age-show how the calculation is worled out: The normal heart rate for a 12 year is 70-110bpm for girls and boys. A basic way to calculate it is get 220 and minus your age off it. That answer would be your maximim heart rate.

Weekend

Surprisingly my netball team came first in a netball tournament yesterday we won all our games. There were four 24 minute games our second game was against the Tauranga Intermediate 8C team It was a very close game 14-11 to us they were coming first In the B grade but we bet them so we took there place.

On saturday I played my normal saturday netball game we won 60-3 we were playing against pap college 8B you'll find it hard to believe but I shot 56 goals and to tell the truth our first goal was
in the first 20 seconds.

Unfortunately one of my team mates got elbowed in the face so her lips were bleeding on the day of the tournament, our coach and their coach had a huge argument.

Camp

I'm proud that I did the beam because I am scared of heights and the beam was about 20 meters high. Mrs Shepard told some people that they had to do a push up on the beam I'm glad I wasn't one of those people!

When group 3 were mountin biking up a hill. One of my team mates called Kye forgot to put his feet on the ground when we got up to the top so he fell of his bike down the little bank surprisingly he didn't get hurt because there a lot of dry grass It made me laugh because he just fell straight down on his side.

Believe it or not I screamed every time I heard something in the burma trail especially when there was a  possum hanging from the tree when you walked pass, or when David turned on the chain saw, or when the adults scared you, or when Gen would hide behind the tree and when you walk pass he would hold your top of your arm.

The biggest challenge for me would be doing the vertical play pen because it was very slippery when group 3 did it!! The hardest bit was trying to get both your feet in the tyre and trying to get right up to the top I only got up to the first tyre i early got up to the beam but I ran out of time sadly.

The tastiest thing that I had to eat would be when my cooking groupe cooked Nacho's with a side
salad and for desert we had yoghurt, peaches, blueberries, cream, and marshmallow's all mixed together
It's called ambrosia and for the drink we had orange juice.

The most rewarding thing for me would be doing the posties walk and abseiling because I am scared of heights and posties walk was very high so was abseiling last year it was only 10 meters high this year it was 20 I really didn't want to do it but I did and I am very proud of myself for doing it.

Horse meat surved in hospitals.

A international food catering company have been reported to of sold horse meat to schools in Britain, this is expected to come into New Zealand hospitals. Health minister Tony Ryall has said it's still very early days for the proposal but if the proposal is confirmed it is estimated hospital food services contracted out to a private company, costing more than 1000 jobs. I personally think that this would be a very good idea because extra meat and it would be cheaper for New Zealand hospitals. Resource: Horse meat in hospitals

Homework Expectations

Amount
We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.
2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.

Quality
You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.

Blog Post
- must be at least 2 paragraphs
- has to be punctuated correctly, spell checked and no errors
- you must include which category and task number in your post title so Miss C can sign you off.

Cat beauty contest

On the ninth of April there was a cat beauty competition. It was in Romania but everyone in the would could enter. The most common cat that was there was the sphinx cat which is worth five thousand dollars. The judges thought none of these cats were pretty enough to be in the competition. The is not a decision of what cat is the most beautiful.

My opinion is that it is crazy that the make there cats beautiful for a trophy.

World Pillow Fight Day

On the 6th of April it was the world pillow fight day. It was celebrated in London, New York, Hong Kong, Chicago and a lot more countries. It was designed as a fun way for people to socialize it lasted a hour and no one got hurt. There were two top rules that were no hitting anyone with a pair of glasses and no hitting incredibly hard.

My opinion: I think that next time they do a pillow fight they won't have two top rules.

Swimming sports

On the 22nd of March Rimu house walked down to Memorial Pools to do swimming sports. I spent the day helping out. I mostly gave out popsicle sticks for people that placed third. The color of the sticks I gave out were purple. The purple ones meant third place the red popsicle sticks meant first place green popsicle meant second place and the ones that I gave out were purple third place.
The races were 25 free, 25m, breaststroke, doggie paddle, dolphin dive and much much more. My favorite event to watch was the class relay because room 42 won. The highlight of my day was when my class came first in the class relays.  At the end of all the events everyone were aloud to have a fun swim and play pool games with our friends!
It was a great day I had so much fun!.

My first month at T.I.S

I have been at Tauranga intermediate for a month now. I enjoy being a year 8.  I’ve just finish netball trials for next term also i’m a kiwi volley ball referee. Rimu house selected the house leaders for this year they are Lachlan and Jessica. They couldn’t decide between Damian or Lachlan so Lachlan is the real house leader and Damian is the student leader.  I also have learnt a lot more in maths like square rooting and BEDMAS (Brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction.)
Its been a good year so far I can't wait till the rest of it to come!.
